Originally by: Bhaal I don't think this would make death meanigless at all... The insurance costs can become the ISK sink...
Lets take a BS pilot with a full set of imps & good mods getting podded...
150 mill ship at 33% IR = 49.5 mill loss
100 mill woth of imp's at 50% IR = 50 mill loss
200 mill worth of modules at 25% IR = 50 mill loss
Clone for 10 mill SP character ?? don't know off the top of my head...
But that's a 150 mill loss for that pilot getting podded... And the more he loses ships, the greater his loss due to rising IR's...
And because the Insurance Companies have to pull goods from the market, or direcly from PC builders, agent runners, etc... This does not make thier jobs obsolete...
But if you cross refere with the game as it is you get..
150 mill ship at 33% IR = 49.5 mill loss, 105 mill saved
100 mill woth of imp's at 50% IR = 50 mill loss, 50 saved
200 mill worth of modules at 25% IR = 50 mill loss, 150 mill saved
So instead of going up against an enemy and him losing substantialy, enough to make him have to get back to earning it back not for 1 or 2 days but maybe more. This way of insuring just leaves it open for the guys to get possible 300 million back in his account to refit a new ship in less than 2 hrs with top goods. Leave it as it is for now. Let the market availablity dictate ship and mod cost. Let the insurance stay as mineral value and worry less about the what we risk and just take the risk.

I am not bothered about insurance I would be happy to see it abolished, the only reason I can see a use is it is a way to remove isk from the game. I am far from a power gamer I live to my means and mine or sell as much as is needed to fund my one ship. If I lose that I go back and mine for a new one.
So please do not disregard us who are not power gamers in your flawed arguement.

I don't think I deserve a BS here, I know I don't play enough to be able to afford that... I think I have a right to an INTY however, because for what insurance coverage is telling me how much the "blue book" value is, I certainly would be happy to mine for a new one each time I lose one...
Again you argue about something only because you are not willing to risk loss. I fly a crow have done for 5 Months if not more. I lose it I have to pay for a new one so I need to find ways to do that. I care not for the insurance and couldn't give a nats gonad if I get even the 40% for free back. A gamer like yourself by now should have been able to find ways to quite happily make enough to sustain a ship you like and ways to gain isk to make it back.
Eg. You spend a lot of time on the forums, I would think more than in game. Well use the forums as a medium to make isk. Look for a niche in the market and sell via here. Or buy off here and then sell to player who need in game.
There are many way to make isk if you have the inclination, but one of the ways I detest is to ask for changes to the game that are not really needed.
So instead of continually posting about how hard up you are work on changing that!! -----------------------------

I have lost the plot on this.
Bhaal you want to fly a claw that cost 6.5mill to buy, it costs another what 200k to insure so total 6.7mill isk.
Now you are happy to get 2.7 mill back which is still a loss of 4 million as oppose to a loss of 6.7 million??
2.7 million difference in loss is it really a great deal to have cried for 3 pages about 2.7 million isk.....
Please any BS pilot reading this do not do as Bhaal has or we will end up with numerous people complaining about isk loss!! -----------------------------
